Caring for silk-blend and embroidered sarees
1 min read
A good saree is worn a few times a year and has to be ready every time. Most damage happens in storage, not on the day.
Fold it differently each time
Creases that sit in the same place for months weaken the fabric and eventually the zari. Refold along different lines every few months.
Wrap, do not seal
Keep silk blends in a muslin or cotton cloth rather than plastic, which traps moisture. Add a few dried neem leaves to keep moths away.
Clean it properly
Dry-clean zari and sequin sarees. Never wring, and never iron directly on metallic work.
